Summer is over. It’s gone to the dogs for me, if you really want to know.
Master had elbow surgery in January,
the fifth on his right arm since the “great fall” of 2018.
Then in May he had surgery for a torn tendon and heel displacement.

This made it impossible for him to go for walks, so for awhile my neighbor, Ed, (he’s a good guy), Mistress Michele and her daughter, Katy, walked with me.
Finally, I moved to Mistress’ home. As you can see, life was hard.
I did hear my name called ‘authoritatively’ a few times, but only had to sit in the corner once.
While I was away from Master, I took it pretty easy, like I was on vacation.

Did some personal reading, some online work with children and took seriously my job of bringing comfort and pleasure to older adults. And I took some “nose training” classes, too. That was fun.
The food was excellent and treats were good.
I even went sailing on Lake Washington!
In August I finally came home, full of great memories. I do miss digging amongst Mistress’ flowers (that got my name called ‘authoritatively’ a couple of times!), but the feel of cool fresh dirt on my paws was worth it. At home I live on the 4th floor at TimberRidge. Not much dirt here except what Master and I bring in from hiking in the Cougar Mountain wetlands preserve around where we live.

I see Master is coming back from playing bocci ball. He learned to play from the wheelchair, but the chair is gone now and he plays standing up. The balls are too hard and heavy so I can’t play, but I hang out there anyway because Hazel gives me treats. Okay, I’d better cut this short.
Master is fine now, walking again, and life is good. As you know, he’s back writing Perspective so watch for it. He hopes you’ll encourage family members and friends to join him (us) this year.

It might help take your mind off the fact that someone called the “President,” or the “Governor” or something like that has told Master we have to put our masks back on. I don’t think it’s fleas, but I guess we can’t be too careful. Oh well, I hope to see you around again soon. Until then, here’s a big “woof.”
I love all humans … and most dogs.

P.S. I see GAGE the wonder dog has been on my iPad while I was out, but you don’t seem to mind. He often gets the best feedback. In fact, we both look forward to hearing from you.
I’m pecking away on my iPad and computer, sharing more thoughts on living the “inBetween” moments that keep popping up in Life’s Final Third. A season of gains and losses. Good times and hard times. Times we need each other. Times we need “perspective.” It’s where most (but not all) of my readers live. Some of your ‘kids’ are joining in, too, and that’s good. These moments and you are what help make following Jesus a great adventure for GAGE and me. Thanks for all the comments this summer while my team reposted some of your favorite Perspectives and I took a break. Be in good health.
May Jesus keep us close.

So good to hear from the both of you! Glad you’re doing well! We’re still hanging out in Redwood City and just added a third grandchild to our family, a little girl, this time. Her two brothers adore her! My folks are doing well. Dad turned 90 this year. I’m sure mom will get your post and say something.
